STANLEY OKORO, MD, MBA, FACS

PRESIDENT

Internationally renowned double board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Stanley Okoro was born and raised at Orlu, Imo State, in Nigeria. He earned his high school diploma at Eziachi Secondary School, an all-boys high school in Orlu, before earning his degree at the University of the District of Columbia in Washington DC, where he graduated with high honors.

After graduating with honors from Meharry Medical College in Nashville, Tennessee, Dr. Okoro completed a rigorous, five-year training program in surgery at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, before becoming a surgeon there. After his training at Emory, he joined the United States Navy and served as the Chief of General Surgery for four years at the United States Naval Hospital in Great Lakes, Illinois.

With his time as Chief of General Surgery complete, Dr. Okoro proceeded to complete an additional three year training program in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, Texas, where he learned from many leaders in the field of cosmetic plastic surgery, and where he mastered the latest techniques in surgical and non-surgical procedures.

Dr. Okoro returned to active duty in the Navy after successfully completing his plastic surgery training. He achieved the rank of Commander, and served as the Chief of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at our “President’s Hospital,” the world-famous National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland; It is here that he received and treated the majority of Marine and Navy casualties from the Iraq and Afghanistan conflicts.

Dr. Okoro has extensive, well-rounded experience in cosmetic and reconstructive plastic surgery of the face, breast, and body. His Atlanta, Georgia-based plastic surgery practice offers customized cosmetic plastic surgical procedures, and he has international practice locations in Lagos and Abuja, Nigeria.

Dr. Okoro was honored with the 2011, 2012, and 2013 “Compassionate Doctor Award” by Patient Choice, and is listed in the 2011, 2012, and 2013 editions of the “Guide to America’s Top Surgeons” by the Consumer’s Research Council of America, as well as one of America’s Top Plastic Surgeons (2014). He was recently voted as “Best Plastic Surgeon” by Atlanta’s Best Self magazine.

He is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, and the American Board of Surgery; and is a member of many prestigious, exclusive organizations, including the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS), American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), American College of Surgeons (ACS), International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ISASPS), Southeastern Society of Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery (SESPRS), Medical Association of Georgia, and Cobb County Medical Society.

He has received multiple awards, authored many topics in plastic surgery journals, and presented at several local, regional, national, and international plastic surgery conferences. Dr. Okoro has been featured in many national and international media outlets. He was awarded the Axel C. Hansen, MD Distinguished Physician Award in October, 2019, an honor bestowed on a Meharry alumnus of the School of Medicine who has demonstrated leadership and personal commitment to Meharry’s mission of service through the exemplary practice of medicine. In April 2020, he was featured on the cover and in a profile article for MedEsthetics magazine.

In addition to his academic and business accomplishments, Dr. Okoro is a selfless a philanthropist. He served as the Executive Director of Imo Medical Mission, Inc., a non-profit charitable organization. Since 2003, he has organized and participated in twice-yearly ongoing volunteer medical and surgical mission to undeveloped countries. Dr. Okoro has also served as the Chairperson of the Georgia Chapter of the Association of Nigerian Physicians in the Americas (ANPA) and then served as the National Treasurer of ANPA.

Dr. Okoro is a dedicated family man and has been married to his wife, Agnenta, for over 30 years. They have four beautiful children. Dr. Okoro’s youthful smile and charm belie his wealth of unmatched knowledge, experience, skills, and surgical wisdom.
